Either way, I went into full on planning mode, trying to figure out all the details. What to do with my apartment, my car, money, where I'd live out there, telling my bosses etc, and so far things have fallen into place beautifully. Some people would call that 'meant to be' I suppose. Both of my supervisors were amazing, and will make sure I have positions there if I want to come back. Their willingness and support means the world to me. I'm also strongly leaning towards letting a co-worker sublet my apartment, to earn a little money towards the rent and basically have someone there keeping an eye on the place. The only other thing is where to live out there, and I'm still working on that. Hopefully I'll figure that out soon. Then it's on to doing a little shopping for appropriate government-wear, lining up a few other details, and off I go on June 3! I am nervous about starting a new job, but I'm really really excited about the position, testing my limits and learning the ropes of this side of the science world.
I'm also excited about spending the summer with Babe, exploring and dining out and going to museums on the weekends, and seeing all of my friends and family that live out there!
It seems like a dream right now, but also sort of calms me down. While I believe in being proactive to accomplish your goals, the timing of this feels really good, and things are working out smoothly. Perhaps I can relax a little and realize things really do happen when the timing is right. Also, I must add that my parents are super excited and that in itself makes me feel overwhelmed with pride.
